ARESDEC members attended a DMR programming workshop on Saturday, November 19, 2022 from 9:00a -12:00p. The workshop was organized by ARESDEC training officer Hal Jennings (KE0KFB) and took place at the Franktown Fire Protection District Station 184. Michael Lozano (K0NGA) from Rocky Mountain Ham was the guest speaker. Mike delivered information on DMR’s background, adaptation within the amateur radio community, and programing advise for AnyTone, Connect Systems, and TYT radios. Thirteen ARESDEC members were in attendance with various DMR experience levels. It is fair to say that everyone learned something from the event and the lively discussion throughout the presentation highlighted the group’s shared experiences (good and bad) with DMR. Following Mike’s presentation Frank Watervoort (AB0WV) discussed and demonstrated DMR operations using a hotspot. After the workshop Mike joined several ARESDEC members for lunch at Takoda Tavern where the DMR discussion continued along with several laughs and a good meal. (Write-up by Jerry Jenkins, AG7U)
