The HR DMR Repeater is now up and on-the air! Thanks to Randy Reynard (W0RDR), Dirk Malsch (N2PDQ), Jim Rooney (N4JJR), Jon Blome (KF0JB), Robert Rothe (KE0GIB), Kelly English (W0KDE), Tom Queen (N0TEQ), along with Peter & Christian Malsch and especially Brennan Allen (N0CMD) of Valor Christian.
This repeater is perma-linked to Silver Heights on TG 310842. When you talk on HR TS 2 using TG 310842 it will automatically transmit on Silver Heights, and vice-versa, so the repeaters are fully linked now. Please do not attempt to use any other TG on timeslot 2. You may use any TG you wish on TS1 – the “wide” timeslot.
If you’re on I-25 southbound between DTC and Castle Rock, just switch to Silver Heights when you get south of Ridgegate and you’ll continue talking on both machines nicely almost to Monument. We haven’t checked the range to the North yet, but we suspect it’ll cover up to Brighton or farther. It should also cover C-470 well, probably up to Golden and E-470 to near the airport or farther. Silver Heights overlaps that coverage also so we’ll do well in that area.
Let’s get on the air and start doing some range checking. Report your results on the Slack channel: #hr_dmr_project. Don’t have Slack? Check with your operations team…
Update: we have re-visited the HR Repeater and found the problem with the antenna system. The issue was resolved and it is now putting out full power and the receive is working very well. Thanks go to Dirk (N2PDQ) for going up the multiple “ladders” and digging into the issue to successful conclusion.
We are now ready for true range testing. You can always use the “parrot” to test by yourself (it’s in the codeplug), or have a couple of people just go out and drive around talking with each other. Please don’t just “kerchunk” the repeater (we will know who you are if you do because your DMR ID will show up). By using the “parrot” you will not only prove you’re getting in, but you’ll also be able to hear what you sound like on the machine.
Let’s hear how it works for you – remember there’s a Slack Channel for the project so put your reports in there where everyone can see them.
