Field Day 2022

Another successful Field Day was carried out by Colorado ARES R1D5 on the weekend of June 25 and 26, 2022. Some cool weather moved in for the weekend providing a relief from the recent heat. ARES R1D5 operated again as a 3A category station this year with a CW station, an HF digital station and an HF phone station as the three main transmitters. A VHF station and a GOTA station were also set up. Many thanks go out to all of the volunteers who provided their time, trailers, tents, radio equipment, antennas and operating talents!

The CW station operated out of the ARES R1D5 trailer with a tri-element Yagi for the higher HF bands and wire antennas for the lower HF bands.
CW operations in full swing.
The HF Phone station antenna and trailer. It was a cool and misty Saturday morning.
The HF Digital station with trailer and multi-band vertical antenna.
The GOTA station camper and antenna.
A tri-element 6 meter Yagi was the primary antenna for the VHF station.
Getting the important mess tent ready for setup.
And, with a lot of people helping out the tent becomes a functional dining hall.
John (KE0HXA) and Ron (N0IVN) operating FT-8 digital on 6 meters at the VHF station.
Randy (W0RDR) doing the logging, Pete (WD4IXD) doing the talking and Dan (KC0QD) doing the supervising at the HF Phone station.
The sun started to make an appearance again as the Field Day event came to a close. Only some light sprinkles this year for Field Day, so all-in-all it was decent weather for the event.
