The 51st Fall Poker Run kept us hopping with dirt bike mishaps, breakdowns, and ultimately weather! We think everyone learned something and hopefully had fun. We were impressed at how well things went and appreciate all of the participant feedback for the After-Action Report and the ICS-214s. And we had 100% check in by message after everyone arrived home, so we didn’t have to send the CSP looking for anyone. 😊 Thanks to all for the dedication on this one.
The LoRa UHF spread spectrum tracking experiment performed far better than we expected and often better than the traditional VHF APRS. We gathered a lot of APRS beacon data that is being analyzed.
Our Net Control, Chris/K0BOM, was tireless and on the ball. Not only did he run the Net well, but he kept up the ICP’s ICS-309 Activity Log and “whiteboard” where Open situations (such as injuries) were tracked until resolution. Having served at Checkpoints and as a past Deputy MC, Chris has volunteered to serve as our Mission Coordinator (MC) for the Turkey Day 5K event in November. Thanks Chris!
Alex, W0AJO, was an amazing Forward Observer. He helped several riders fix their bikes and/or get the help the riders needed to fix or recover their bike. Alex provided valuable insight and feedback on the trail.
Last but not least we thank Josh, W0RTA, from R1D6 for helping all of us in R1D5 provide tactical communications & situational awareness for the poker run event staff.
