Poker Run

On June 2, 2024, the Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES) of Douglas and Elbert Counties showcased their dedication and expertise at the RRMMC Poker Run. With 18 volunteers at the helm, equipped with advanced communication technologies like Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) and LoRa tracking, the event was a testament to preparedness, collaboration, and community service.

Cold and wet sums up the weather on Sunday, June 4th, in the Rampart Range.  Both motorcycle riders and ARES R1D5 members commented that this was the wettest event in recent memory.  Despite less-than-optimal weather, ARES R1D5 members prevailed and found ways to stay warm, dry, and provide communication services, including GPS tracking via radio
