On Saturday, February 21, 2026, ARESDEC members gathered together at the Parker United Methodist Church in Parker, Colorado to enjoy some donuts, comradery and help each other get radios updated for the 2026 season. We also enjoyed a demo of the new Starlink Internet system that the team acquired as an additional asset for use in planned activities/deployments.
During the year, our ICS-217A (frequency list) incurs changes due to new repeaters being added or removed, or changes to frequencies in our code plugs. Also, some of our members have radios that sustain firmware updates and need to be updated. What an great opportunity to come together annually and help each other upgrade firmware, code plugs and enjoy some training.
New for this year was a demonstration of our Starlink system and its capabilities. Attendees had the chance to connect to the system via WiFi and test the upload/download speeds. With favorable results, all were pleased to realize how easy it was to use and manage. We look forward to employing its use during upcoming planned events.
It is fair to say that everyone learned something from the event and walked away with radios ready for use in 2026. It was great to see everyone again.
Come join us next year!
