SUMMARY:Face-to-Face Meeting:  BCARES Analog/Digital TV Demonstration
DESCRIPTION:We have a really great program planned for the July Face-to-Face meeting.  This is one you WON’T want to miss!!\n  \nAllen K0ARK\, BCARES E.C. will lead off with the use of ATV for ARES.  There will be lots of relevant operational ATV gear for ARES deployment which will be on display.   He will also cover the unique relationship that BCARES has with the Boulder County Sheriff\, Police and fire departments. \nBCARES use of ATV for ARES dates way back to 1990 when the Boulder Sheriff approached BCARES and asked them to provide TV coverage of major events.   It even included them creating a sub-group of BCARES members becoming members of the Sheriff’s SWAT team to provide on-site live video feeds to the SWAT mobile command post.   Both Allen and I were members of the SWAT for many years. \nJim KH6HTV will then follow-up with the technical details of High Definition Digital Television.   The emphasis will be on what equipment is available today for hams (at reasonable costs) for both a simple DATV station of transmitter and receiver plus camera and video monitor.  And how it is useful both at home\, mobile and portable pack set.   A working display of such equipment will be on display. \nJim will also cover DATV repeaters and their design\, etc.   At present BCARES has one wide area coverage DATV repeater in Boulder.   In addition\, BCARES received a grant from Boulder County of $30K to improve its communications network.  BCARES recently purchased two new 70cm DATV repeaters to enhance mountain coverage.  They are still working on finding permanent homes for these new repeaters.  BCARES also has a 3rd\, portable 70cm DATV repeater to be deployed as needed. \nQ&A session at the end of the presentation. \nWe look forward to seeing you in July.  Come and join us!  All are welcome to join our Face-to-Face meetings. \nFor more information\, please contact us at Training@aresdec.org. \n
