The Hundo 2026 – Bailey, CO – in Partnership with Colorado ARES
ARESDEC is excited to announce a new addition to our 2026 event calendar: The HUNDO, a 100K/64K mountain bike race held in Bailey, Colorado. This is a first for our organization, and we are proud to be partnering with neighboring ARES districts to make it happen.
The event organizers are already familiar with how ARESDEC operates from our work at the Spring and Fall Poker Runs — they know what we bring to the table, and they want us there. Our communications support is a key part of how they plan to run a safe event.
Our mission on June 13:
- Provide reliable communications throughout the race course and support area — our primary mission
- Staff the Start/Finish line with our Mission Control Center (MCC)
- Staff all 4 Aid Stations along the course
- Track SAG vehicles, Rover(s), and EMTs using LoRa for real-time positional awareness
- Coordinate directly with the Event Team and local Emergency Services
- Support the on-site EMTs and serve as the communications backbone for the race
- Like the Poker Run, the terrain makes this an excellent real-world stress test for off-grid communications equipment — bring your go-kit and put it to work
This is exactly the kind of high-visibility, high-impact event that demonstrates what amateur radio emergency communications can do for our communities.
Camping is available on-site — this is a great opportunity to make a weekend of it with fellow operators.
We need reliable operators who can commit to the full event day. If you’ve supported the Poker Run, you know the tempo. If this is your first ARESDEC event, this is a strong one to start with.
