NWS SKYWARN Weather Spotter Training

March 21 @ 18:30 - 20:30

Greg Heavener/NWS is scheduled to provide our ARES District’s annual SKYWARN Weather Spotter Training. The agenda consists of: Basics of thunderstorm development, Fundamentals of storm structure, Identifying potential severe weather features, Information to report, How to report information, and Basic severe weather safety.

Even if you have attended this event in past years, SKYWARN training is great refresher of weather features we don’t see every day.  In addition, it kicks off our training for weather spotting within Douglas & Elbert Counties over the summer months.

This training session is open to the public.  NWS and surrounding County Offices of Emergency Management have advertised heavily, and their allocated seats filled quickly.

If you want to register for the workshop, please go here: https://www.weather.gov/bou/spotters

There is a limited number of seats available at the venue.  Word to the wise – if you are particular on where you sit, you may wish to arrive a little early.

See you at the workshop!          Hint, come early, and bring pencil/paper to take notes.
