Colorado State Simulated Emergency Test (SET)
October 24, 2026
ARRL’s annual Simulated Emergency Test (SET) for Colorado is usually scheduled for the 4th Saturday in October each year. This nationwide exercise is the chance to test personal emergency-operating skills and the readiness of communications equipment and accessories in a simulated emergency-like deployment. The ARRL’s Amateur Radio Emergency Service ® (ARES®), the National Traffic System (NTS), the Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES), SKYWARN, Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Salvation Army Team Emergency Radio Network (SATERN), and other allied groups and public-service oriented radio amateurs are among those who are eligible to participate in the simulated exercise and to practice emergency operation plans, nets and procedures.
This year the Colorado ARES Section will organize a coordinated communications exercise for all Colorado regions and districts. The scenario and injects have not yet been developed or announced. The annual exercise promises to test our radio skills and equipment abilities. We will operate from each of our serve agency’s EOC and Hospital’s Emergency Radio room.
It’s a great opportunity to participate as if it were the real thing! Time and duration of the event TBD.
Stay tuned for more information as we get closer to the date!
