To take an FCC exam, you must bring the following:
- Two forms of identification; one of which must be a “Government Issued Photo ID”.
- Original and one photo copy of CSCE (Certificate of Successful Completion of Exam) toward the next class license, if any. The CSCE is only needed if testing before a license issue or update is not reflected in FCC Database.
- The testing fee is $14.00. Cash is preferred; check or credit card “may be accepted” in extreme circumstances. Credit card may not always be accepted.
- The examination fee allows an examinee to take one test of each element. Element “retakes” are allowed for an additional payment of $14.00.
- Supplies – pen and/or pencil, eraser, calculator, etc. You may request scratch paper in the exam; do not bring your own scratch paper.
- Calculators must be “stand-alone”; that is, not an “app” on a phone or tablet.
- We are now using a fully on-line registration and testing system.
- On the application, you will be asked to answer the “Basic Qualification Question” which asks,
- “Has the Applicant or any party to this application, or any party directly or indirectly controlling the Applicant, ever been convicted of a felony by any state or federal court?”
- Whether you answer “yes” or “no”, you may continue to take the test; however if you answer, “yes”, you will need to follow the special instructions on the back of the application regarding the disposition of your case.
- To register, send an e-mail to ve@aresdec.org and a registration link will be sent to you for the specific session you’re interested in. Alternatively, visit https://hamstudy.org/sessions/K8ZTT/all to complete your registration.
