ARES Region 1, District 5 (R1D5) welcomes three NEW members to the team, Alan KE0YSO, Brett KF0VPJ, and Mark N7CD! Congratulations for completing the Spring New Member Training Workshop (NMT). NMT took place on Saturday, March 14th at the Parker United Methodist Church in Parker, CO. Attendees learned many things about ARES, ARES R1D5 and how we serve the communities in Douglas and Elbert Counties. We learned about the organization’s history, structure, and mission, the agencies we serve, and how we are activated for unplanned events (like staffing a shelter due to fire or snowstorm). We were taught about operational readiness, deployment/activation protocols, net operations and being a RADO (radio operator). We were also reminded about membership requirements, professional standards, and many other topics that will enable members to be successful in their service. As a takeaway gift, each new member received a flash drive filled with valuable material.
Of course, refreshments were served and enjoyed by all. Donuts are always a hit with the team. If you missed attending this event, please join us in the Fall 2026 for the next scheduled training meeting.
