The Douglas County Community Foundation (DCCF) hosted its second annual Heroes Gala, a celebration dedicated to honoring the remarkable individuals who make a difference in the community, on September 13th, 2024.  ARES R1D5, or the Amateur Radio Emergency Service of Douglas and Elbert Counties, was invited to showcase their equipment and services at the Heroes Gala.  As an all-volunteer public service organization, ARES R1D5 is composed of licensed and trained amateur radio operators committed to providing crucial communications support during community events and emergencies.  At the Gala, ARES R1D5 setup a dedicated table where attendees could learn more about ARES R1D5, the important services we offer, and see an example of a “Go-Kit”.  Additionally, ARES R1D5 featured their Mobile Communication Center (MCC) and provided an engaging “show and tell” experience that highlighted the groups advanced and diverse communication capabilities all contained within a custom trailer build.
